The motor was surging, so I bought a carb kit, used the ultrasonic cleaner to clean it, installed the carb kit, and reinstalled the carb (new plug, as well). Follow these steps: 1 Remove – Remove the plug wire (twist and pull) and remove the spark plug. You may need to remove some plastic engine covers. Check – Check the plug gap isn’t closed and the plug is clean. There is no belt or anything else involved in the starters operation. If you remove the starter you can put a little lubrication on the shaft the starter gear spins on.
