However, you can go the the Interface tab in the settings and select what gets or don't get added to the hotbar. Go to a Character that has the potions hot bar still and grab it with the mouse (dont let go of the mouse), then hit f1/f2/f3/f4 (whichever character for whom the hotbar is missing), and when you switch, you'll be still be holding the red slider, but for whatever character you switch too.
