The important thing to remember is that a wild order druid is a full, 10th level spellcaster with a focus spell that allows them to change shape. Shape changing can be very fun, but it's also not the main source of your power or functionality. It is, however, a really nice bag of tricks to have on hand. vastmagick.PF2e's balance is pretty tight so you would have to actively work to make a crap character. And, even then, you can't really drop that down too far unless you're doing nothing but taking a mishmash of class feats with zero synergy with each other (which, again, would require you to actively work towards screwing it up).
